Despite Trump’s Order, Relaxation of COVID Restrictions Not Likely

On January 18th the White House issued an executive order which declared that previous travel restrictions which affected citizens or anyone who had been present in Brazil, the United Kingdom, Ireland, and the European Union’s Schengen Zone would be lifted on January 26th.

While this announcement may seem like welcome relief to travelers from these areas who have not been able to come to the United States, this announcement should not be given much weight. U.S. news outlets have reported that the incoming Biden Administration plans to re-impose and possibly further tighten these restrictions as part of their plan to deal with the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

Perspective travelers should avoid making any plans until the new administration clarifies its plans on COVID-19 related restrictions. Official announcements should be made beginning January 20th following the inauguration.

If you have a current visa and are concerned about how these travel restrictions will impact you, feel free to request a service to discuss your options.
